Careen might be more appropriate. You can intentionally careen a ship to do a quick repair or cleaning on the bottom. Sadly, this was not intentional and I did not clean the bottom, I just wilted rather than lilted.

Dear MIL,

I can imagine how the scenery up here and especially being on a glacier would stir up some strong emotions in a man such as your husband. This is wild country and a hoosier can natrually be excedingly awed by it. I'm currently reading "Sitka" by Louis L'Amour, it reminds me of the mistique surrounding Alaska especially back when it was first being settled. It sure draws adventurers from near and far.

I think the highlight of this trip so far has been getting out away from all the business of the capitol to see the wildness and experience the quiet. The whale surfacing right next to our boat in Green Cove and the sea lion that came to say hi while we were sailing near Barlow Cove are some of the best individual moments I remember. Thank you for asking.

All the things the pilots do to get people and things to their destination is impressive. What an operation! Glad to be working at the company with you as a Customer service agent to see how it all works and understand what it is you do better.

I can't get over the water convergence picture! It reminds of the confluence on the Colorado but much more blue and less brown. Haha!

Thanks for a great explanation of your duties and requirements needed on a daily basis for flying up there in Alaska.
I’m glad for the experiences that you have had there in Alaska will equip you with knowledge in your future job and endeavors moving forward.
You and Kelli have had quite the experience and adventure there living on a sailboat and your weekend travels exploring.
What an aggravating time of writing out a lengthy blog and it not being saved.

I loved the pictures. Just beautiful!
The one of the glacier coming down through the mountains made me think of our 2015 trip to Alaska. We were able to have the experience of flying on the plane and landing on a glacier.
That happened on August 2 nd and it was our 35 th anniversary.
I had to talk Stan into a trip anywhere but I found a land trip in Alaska that we were able to go on.
But boy I couldn’t believe his excitement landing on the glacier and getting out of the plane to explore close by the plane.
The tour guide was on the other plane that landed on the glacier and Stan went up and gave her a hug because he was so happy and excited about that adventure!

Beautiful up there as always. It's amazing what happens when we open ourselves up to improvement rather than being defensive, isn't it? Not always easy to do, but well worth it.
The weather up there can really be a downer, especially when you're used to to the sunnniest, dry areas.
Glad to hear of your new upcoming adventure is closer to home! John & I will have to come visit y'all October or later.

Kelli looks at ease and I'm so glad y'all are together again! And double glad kelli is not getting seasick! All your pictures and words put me at ease, which is good because I recently watched "Adrift" and it had my stomach in knots thinking of the two of you on a sailboat. Ha!

Lots of good info in this long blog, Love! Your list of all the places you've lived really put it in perspective how much you've moved around.

Looking forward to picking your brain more on the story about finding the shoreline. I'm sure I'll understand more when I'm living there. Some of the photos you've taken it's hard to tell if it's water or sky, but with crummy weather everything probably looks grey. Scary!

Thank you, Larry. I've got some more stories brewing, I'm aiming at one a week.

Kara, you are right, it is kind of cold and lonely. Walking through the woods, landing on a beach, sitting on the deck, the remoteness is deafening. It is a beauty in solitude. I like to fill it with cooking and eating.

My posts tend to reflect my current thoughts even if I'm telling an old story. When I set out on this adventure I was very busy, very stressed, and didn't have much time to ponder on things but as I'm here longer and I find a rhythm to life, I start to realize that I'm alone out here. That makes more desire my wife more. As of writing this, it's 4 days until she's here!

Thank you for the encouragement, favorite mother-in-law. I will continue to have a video from time to time, I just have to remember to take them. I have more capable phone now and a GoPro, it's just a matter of doing it.

Here soon I'll be going over some systems and what the boat is really like. I know I mention the diesel heater and autopilot but few people know what those actually look like or how to use them. I've been doing a lot of little repairs so that's going to be a story of its own.

I'm sorry I missed Stan's party too. I'm glad Kelli was able to make it.
